| If you are looking for a solid wood floor with that aged/distressed appearance this floor may be just what you are looking for.
A major plus of the aged Chapel castle floor is that it is a no-worry, maintenance-free floor. This comes from the fact that the floor will no longer need to be sanded, which would ruin the "old" patina, while the dents and scratches of normal wear and tear actually contribute to its beauty. Due to the regular irregularity of the distressing there is little to worry about from damage and scratches. Nothing is so annoying as the first dents and / or scratches (damage) in a newly laid, smooth floor.
The floor's ease of maintenance is the result of first impregnating the floor, then finishing it with lactic acid-resistant hardwax oil, reinforced with silicic acid. The silicic acid, an oxidic substance derived from glass, forms a glaze layer over the oily components, making the floor more resistant to abrasion. The floor may be swept and / or vacuumed, and it is possible to clean it using be damp-mopped, however, as you will soon find yourself wondering where all the water has gone. If there are observable blemishes, we recommend rubbing away the blemish using a scotch brite, dipped in the silicic acid-reinforced hardwax maintenance oil, after which the excess silicic acid-reinforced hardwax oil should be removed using the sponge side. The ageing of the planks is based on a proprietary process and this is one of the few wood flooring products that gets better when worn and damaged.
